Biography
Virginia’s practice focuses on representing companies, financial institutions, board members, and executives in complex civil and criminal investigations and litigation.
Virginia’s practice also focuses on antitrust and complex commercial litigation.
Prior to joining A&O Shearman, Virginia represented a wide range of clients from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies at a San Francisco litigation boutique, focusing mainly on intellectual property litigation. Prior to working in private practice, Virginia was an Assistant District Attorney in the Anchorage District Attorney’s Office, where she handled criminal matters ranging from violent crime—including homicide—to financial crime, including embezzlement. Virginia has extensive experience presenting complex cases to a grand jury and has an undefeated trial record.

Selected experience
- A global communications company in a contract dispute. In 2023, Virginia led the briefing on summary judgment, resulting in a historic summary judgment award of $97 million.
- A multinational technology company against claims of patent infringement across a wide variety of software and devices. In 2023, Virginia successfully moved to exclude the opinions of plaintiff’s damages expert under Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
- A special litigation committee of pharmaceutical distributor in an internal investigation associated with underlying shareholder derivative litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery.
- A major health insurer in a multimillion-dollar contract dispute in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
- A major cybersecurity company in a contract dispute in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.
